Being YOU: Living Life Authentically

At our last Wisdom Circle, we explored what it truly means to live authentically to come home to ourselves, even when the world has asked us to be something else.

Sitting in a circle with other amazing women we shared what is means to live authentically and this is my take on the collective wisdom.

Many of us are recovering people pleasers. Somewhere along the way, we learned that love and approval came when we made others happy. In doing so, we started to change ourselves often softening our truth, hiding our mess, shaping ourselves to fit the expectations of others.

When we strive for perfection, we place enormous pressure on ourselves to “get it right” instead of simply being ourselves. Yet, perfection is an illusion. Think of it this way: Imperfect = I am perfect. Life can be messy, gloriously, beautifully messy and it is okay to show up exactly as we are.

We can be amazing without being liked by everyone. The truth is, not everyone will understand our light, and that is okay. Shame often whispers that we must hide our real selves and that we must shrink or smooth our edges to be accepted. Authenticity invites us to be seen, fully and unapologetically and with compassion for others.

It all begins with self-acceptance and loving ourselves which means loving our body, our voice, our story, and even the parts we have judged or tried to fix. Loving ourselves includes embracing any perceived limitations and recognising the wisdom they carry. When we allow this to happen it is liberating! We stop judging ourselves and just BE ourselves.

Living authentically does not mean we get it perfect; it means we keep coming back to love. We learn to respond rather than react, to breathe before we speak, and to choose connection over control.

Here’s to showing up as our whole, imperfectly perfect selves .. together.

Living authentically and just Being who I am is a passion of mine. I support others to clear the space within and allow this as a way of Being for themselves. I have the pleasure of facilitating a series of Wisdom Circles through a collaboration with Sacred U,  yarning about different aspects of what it means and how to live life just Being YOU.

The next Wisdom Circle is Nov 5th 2025 at 2.30–3.30pm PT / Nov 6th at 9.30–10.30am AEDT

You can register to be a part of the discussion or just come in to listen and learn. https://sacredu.love/product/being-you-2/

Breathwork has been my vehicle for coming back to myself and learning how to live authentically. If you would like to explore Nature’s Way – Breathwork Practitioner Training contact me at jen@jennyleetaylor.com.au for the training prospectus.

Rediscover your authentic self.

I deeply honour and acknowledge the Awabakal and Worimi people on whose land I was born, live and work.
I acknowledge that the energy walked here through community hunting, birthing, and living under natural laws still remains and has been laid down in the land for all to benefit from.
I acknowledge their ancestors, past and present, who love, care and respect country and their ongoing connection to the ocean, rivers, earth, rocks and air and the balance of all life.
I acknowledge the Elders emerging who take care of the Spirit of this land through connection to the old ones.
Most of all I am grateful to the wisdom and culture of all First Nations people and what we can learn walking beside eachother as we come together from all lineages who were once connected to the land as they are.
