We’ve all felt the spark of setting bold intentions, those solemn promises to ourselves, only to watch them fizzle out before they even truly start. For years, I found myself doing just that—setting lofty intentions, straying from them, and then spending the rest of the time feeling like I’d let myself down.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on our connection as humans to the world around us, especially the other species we coexist with. Our lives are intricately woven into the same fabric as all living things, and in many ways, we mirror each other in how we live, move, and breathe together.
I've always taken pride in being a generous giver. Whether it’s through supporting family and friends, volunteering in my community, excelling at work, expressing love to my partner, or offering heartfelt compliments to strangers, I find immense joy in giving to others. The list is extensive, and the desire to share continues to grow.

Put your hand up if you have ever played in the persecutor in the PERSECUTOR - VICTIM - RESCUER triangle?
I have. At times I have been all three. It's the most played game in the game of life and happens because we are humans, with hangups, deeply seeded belief systems, and we mainly spend our days reacting to life rather than relating to life.
We get caught up in trying to work out the lives of others, wielding our power because we have some unconscious need that makes us feel better. We are either being the persecutor and standing over people, or rescuing them even when they don't need it, or playing small and letting others make our decisions for us.
Have you ever been going about your business, doing life how you normally would with everything basically running smoothly and then BAM! you are hijacked by some emotion or physical response to a situation that sends you into a spin?
We all have personal lies we tell ourselves - negative beliefs that undermine our lives and hold us back. These insidious thoughts are often unconscious, yet they shape our experiences and sabotage our potential.
Love. Your. Life.
Sounds simple doesn't it? Simple and not easy sometimes.
Here are some tips that might help in this spring season of renewal and "cleaning" out and bringing life back into balance so you can LOVE YOUR LIFE.
I heard a speech not long ago from a local businessman who described how he felt about Newcastle as a newcomer some years ago.
He said he had come here to work and didn't feel a real connection to this place until he was sitting at Nobby's Lighthouse in the predawn chatting with a person he had met, and they shared a moment watching the sun come up. He said he felt totally grounded in that moment and knew then he would make Newcastle his new home.
